ABOUT
I am an interdisciplinary conservation scientist interested in habitat restoration on public and private lands. Integrating ecology and social science to address conservation problems is an area of focus for both teaching and research. I am a field scientist at heart, and will do just about anything to get outside!
I received my Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020, following a B.S. in Biology and Global Justice from Central Michigan University. After serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor fall 2020-spring 2022, I became an Assistant Professor of Biology & Environmental Sustainability at Earlham College. At Earlham, I teach interdisciplinary undergraduate classes in ecology, environmental science, and conservation biology. I am passionate about working toward syllabi that are diverse and anti-colonial.
In my non-working hours I enjoy hiking, birding, board games, growing plants, and spending time with my partner Evan, our dogs Fancy and Lupa, in addition to our four cats, two guinea pigs, axolotl, guppies, and several mantises. I also love reading or listening to sci-fi and fantasy novels, social justice advocacy, cooking complicated vegetarian meals, and watching anything with ‘star’ in the title.
